Mr. Bharat Bongu - Our PS Co-ordinator

In there sat a very professional looking person at a laptop alongwth my PS Instructor and an another guy. I was just hoping my faculty instructor wouldn't ruin the moment by introducing me in his typical fashion (which I wouldn't want to dwell upon).

Then Mr. Parikshit asked Mr. Bharat to fill in the details and I recieved the next shock from SourcePilani!!

He filled in: 9:30 am to 7:30 pm!!!!!!

I was stupefied!! Well and truly! All my friends' mocks about me wanting to go intern in a startup re-conjured up in my mind. I looked at my PS mate in a daze, but that fellow I felt, was not very bright. He hadn't registered the enormity of this event! Then, Mr.Bharat launched into a detailed introduction about SourcePilani, its past, present and the future.

Though I was really gung-ho about the whole "interning in a start-up" thing, when my role was spelled out to me, I was a tad disappointed. I was picturing myself leading teams, and devising unheard of strategies and bursting up on the proverbial big screen. And then I thought, "Wake Up"!!! Those days are done.

The initial role of mine involved building a website for SourcePilani, which very evidently, needed a revamp big time. Funny as it sounds, writing content for a website is NOT easy. The choice of words, the positioning etc., everything matters, and to an over-analyzing twerp like me, that spells a thought orgasm of considerable magnitude. This felt like a revert back to the days of generating content for the Sponz brochures! So far soooo okay.

Bharat however turned out to be a cheerful, accomodating typical BITSian senior with all the trappings of camaraderie and warmth. It was such a refreshing and much needed change, especially after two days of dealing with my faculty co-ordinator

The days passed and soon enough, I had to go to Gurgaon for an interview with a b school, and it happened to co-incide with the time Bharat was taking a break from SourcePilani operations to give his GMAT.

And so I thought, I'll hitch a ride...

The Beginning

The day was sunny and I sweaty, unbathed and nauseous was almost about to faint in the claustrophobic bus, when all my friends suddenly shouted, "Harish, SourcePilani!!"

I thought, "What the!!" just like Columbus did when his sailors screeched, "Columbus, India"!! For I couldn't see the gleaming office with its glass doors and a bedecked doorman. I saw a plain sign on a wall which said SourcePilani. I dozed off.. perhaps it was a dream...

Finally landed up in my hostel, only to discover the room that I had been allotted was locked! (I would later come to know that my dickhead of a PS mate, Animesh had done that). The day passed off in inanities like getting a mobile connection etc. I finally decided to get a razai (a huge woollen quilt basically) when by balls froze over by evening.

The next day was the day I had to go meet our PS instructor. You know human brain is a remarkable virtual simulation generator. Hearing his voice in phone, I anticipated a certain shape, figure, demeanour (or lack of it thereof), and a persona. I must say, Im proud of my imaging faculties.

Lets call him Creepy for all practical purposes, besides the fact that its more apt. The first thing I noticed was the fact that his hairstyle resembled an electrocuted peacock. He pretty much acts and behaves like one too.

And then I arrived at the place where I am supposed to work for 5 months. I must confess that for starters, I wasnt thrilled and gung ho about the infrastructure. And then I walked in and met Bongu....
